Just infront of Podium, DISCOVERY SUITES is a great place to enjoy a staycation. It is but walking distance to a lot of malls and the staff are willing to please.
Although admittedly the place is a old, they try to make up for it. They have an ongoing renovation of floors and are trying to upgrade other facilities. Parking is a !@#@$ though in this hotel. You have to go down to their basement and guide your car into sharp turns and small corners. Thankfully, they got a way through it. You could have your car or suv vallet. Not to worry though, if you are checked in, its part of the perks.
When the significant other and I got checked in, we couldn't help the fact that the place lacks chairs in the lobby. We had to stand up for more than 10 minutes to wait for our turn. This was at around past 4pm, well beyond their check-in time and the lines wasn't that long.
First impression was that the room was big. Although OLD SCHOOL, it was pretty huge.
Two queen sized bed, a sort of living area with a sofa, table, toaster, mini fridge, microwave, a desk, a cabinet, flat screen tv, and a cassette player.
There was a welcome fruit platter along with a few papers and magazine lying on the table.
For those business travelers, they got a bunch of hangers and a flat iron to fix those wrinkles away.
The bathroom was in need of a face lift but it had all the essential. From a tub to a separate shower.
Sadly, it didn't have a bidet!! WTF! The toiletries were of the generic type. Towels were almost brand new and definitely hotel quality.
Thankfully, the wifi was pretty strong and fast. No problems with that.
Sleep factors was a plus and a minus.
Minus because they would need to soundproof the rooms. You see, ours has a connecting door with another. Unfortunately, we were unlucky with the draw and the neighbors were pretty loud. It was as if they were having a party with at least 10 people on the other side. I was grateful that one call to the front desk and they tried to fix the problem. The noise turned down a notch but we could still hear the people talking in the other room.
Plus because they got an awesome bed. Two Queen in this case. The linen were bright and spanking new and the pillows were soft and deliciously relaxing.
After fixing our stuff, I toured the place while she slept.
1st stop was the gym. I had a great time using this facility.
It had a bunch of equipments that any gym buff would be happy about.
Weights.
I liked that they have a locker room,
steam room and of course a jacuzzi that overlooks the streets
They also had an indoor pool and a jacuzzi converted to a kiddie pool which wasn't much so skip that.
The following day, we were up and about pretty early. We headed over to RESTAURANT 5. It was the in house restaurant of the hotel that serves the Breakfast.
It was a little small but it had all the essentials.
I was able to try out almost all of the dishes served.
Started with the salad and ended with a nice breakfast plate.
It wasn't phenomenal but it does its job in serving wake up food.
At around 11am, we checked out to avoid the long queue. She didn't sleep that much as the neighbors were a little excited with their stay; if you know what I mean. Adding to that she had a midnight snack. Grabe!
I liked the service and the thoughtfulness of the staff. They suggested that they get the car from the basement parking and even went out of their way to stow the luggage. I even got an email apologizing for the snafu with the neighbors. Quite courteous of them to take my feedback and apologize via e-mail.
Food In The Bag is now in Facebook. Click Here to follow and like.
CHECK-In time is 3pm while check-out is at 12noon. Perks: Parking (valet), Breakfast, WIFI, use of facilities. I would suggest you check out their facebook page as they offer discounted prices of their rooms.
I was able to get an overnight stay for Php 4,514 nett at their Junior Suite. I think I should have upgrade the room to a notch higher to their renovated ones termed as "Serendipity"
DISCLAIMER: Paid for our stay and meal, wrote this based on my experience.
